Software Download

The McGill Ultra-Videoconferencing System is Copyright (c) 2002-2010 McGill University. We want to make it available for broad public use while restricting resale and incorporation in commercial products. The software is provided as-is, without warranty expressed or implied. To obtain download instructions for the Linux-only executable, please read the following license agreement and provide the information requested below. A password will then be sent to you by email.

License Agreement

The McGill Ultravideoconferencing System and Documentation ("Software") is an example of research conducted at McGill University in the area of video and audio over IP. We want to make these materials available for broad public use. McGill University and the researchers involved in the production of this software ("Researchers") give you and your institution permission to use the Software on the following conditions:

  1. You are entitled to use the Software for non-commercial use only. This license does not transfer any commercial rights to sell or distribute the Software.
  2. The Software remains with you and at your institution and is not modified, published, distributed, translated, or otherwise transferred.
  3. This Software is provided on an AS IS BASIS ONLY with no warranty of any kind. Any risk associated with using the Software at your institution is with you and your institution.
  4. Title to the Software, and patents, copyrights and all other property rights applicable thereto, shall at all times remain solely and exclusively with McGill University and Researchers. All rights not expressly granted herein are solely reserved by McGill University and Researchers.
  5. This is a revocable license. Should the Software not work properly, or be inappropriate for your purposes, you should discontinue use immediately.
  6. McGill and Researchers reserve the right to withdraw permission for you to continue use of the Software should the Software prove defective or other conditions arise.

We have no intention in the future to revoke your license to use the software without charge for non-commercial purposes except in the case of some major unforeseen circumstance that places us in a position of liability. We also intend to provide free maintenance upgrades as they become available. Where the non-commercial use becomes commercial use, we intend to provide a license at reasonable cost. Do not hesitate to contact us should you wish further clarification of how these license conditions apply in your particular circumstances.
